AAFP membership is unified, which means you’re required to belong to the national AAFP and your designated chapter. The AAFP has a chapter for each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Uniformed Services, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
Chapters allow you to connect with other family physicians in your region. Each chapter offers its own set of benefits, including but not limited to:
Each chapter sends two members to serve at AAFP Congress of Delegates
These delegates represent the chapter in AAFP’s decision making body
Other chapter leadership positions are a natural pathway to national positions
Two members from each AAFP chapter serve as delegates to the AAFP Congress of Delegates, which is the organization’s policy-making body. AAFP members can submit resolutions requesting that their chapter or national organization take action on issues that they would like to see addressed. The resolutions are considered first at the chapter level. Chapter leadership determines whether resolutions should be submitted to the AAFP Congress of Delegates.
